Raja Ampat is part of the broader Raja Ampat Marine Protected Area, which aims to preserve the region's rich biodiversity. Diving in Central Raja Ampat promises unforgettable experiences, from close encounters with majestic manta rays to exploring vibrant coral reefs teeming with life. Whether you're a novice diver or an experienced enthusiast, the region offers something truly magical beneath its turquoise waters.
Possible Dive Sites:
- Manta Sandy: Located near Arborek Island, Manta Sandy is famous for its resident population of manta rays. Divers can observe these graceful creatures as they glide through the water, often coming close to a memorable encounter.
- Cape Kri: Known for its incredible biodiversity, Cape Kri holds the world record for the highest number of fish species recorded in a single dive. Divers can expect to see an abundance of marine life, including reef sharks, barracudas, and schools of colorful fish.
- Sardine Reef: As the name suggests, Sardine Reef is teeming with large schools of sardines that attract predators like jacks and barracudas. The reef itself is adorned with vibrant corals and offers excellent visibility, making it a favorite among photographers.
- Blue Magic: This site lives up to its name with its awe-inspiring underwater scenery. Divers can encounter various marine life, including reef sharks, giant trevallies, and even the elusive wobbegong shark. The strong currents here make it suitable for experienced divers.
Sample Itinerary
Day 1:
The crew will transfer the guests from the airport or hotel to the ship. After a nice welcome briefing by our cruise director, cabin allocation and ship orientation will take place. Guests can familiarize themselves with the vessel, set up equipment, and get comfortable.
Day 2-5:
We offer 2-4 dives daily, including a night dive if possible. When crossing, only 2 dives a day can be scheduled.
Day 6:
Disembark after breakfast. Transfer to Sorong Airport for departure.
Marine Life: Central Raja Ampat is known for its population of manta rays, which can often be seen gliding gracefully through the water, especially at sites like Manta Sandy. Pygmy Seahorses: These tiny creatures, barely larger than a grain of rice, can be found nestled among the coral branches. Central Raja Ampat offers several dive sites where divers can spot different species of pygmy seahorses. Wobbegong Sharks: These unique-looking sharks, known for their ornate patterns and frilly appendages, can sometimes be spotted resting on the ocean floor or hiding among coral formations.
The last dive will be on the penultimate day of the trip. Divers are recommended to wait for 24 hours before flying after the last dive.
