Misool, with one of the richest biodiversities in the world, is a true dream destination. Within its 425 km² Marine Protected Area—established through a collaboration between the Misool Eco Resort and local communities—thrives an underwater festival of massive gorgonians, corals in a thousand hues, and an endless variety of marine life. Expanded in 2010 to 1,220 km², this sanctuary is one of the most successful marine conservation initiatives worldwide.
Above water, Misool is just as magical: turquoise lagoons, dramatic sugarloaf karsts, lush mangroves, hidden caves, and pristine beaches that invite quiet moments of wonder.
Sample Itinerary
Day 1: SORONG TO MISOOL
Upon arrival in Sorong, you will be welcomed at the airport or your hotel and transferred to Jakare, waiting in the harbor. Refreshing drinks and light snacks will be served while your Cruise Director introduces the crew, shares important safety and itinerary briefings, and guides you to your cabin to settle in.
We will begin our voyage southward toward Misool, pausing for a gentle check dive at Pulau Matan. Depending on sea conditions, we will reach Misool by nightfall or early the next morning, ready to begin your immersion into this natural wonder.
Note: All dives and snorkel activities in Misool are conducted in coordination with local authorities and partner resorts. Dive sites may be visited in a different sequence depending on sea conditions, weather, and environmental considerations, ensuring both guest safety and the preservation of this pristine marine environment.
Day 2: DAFALEN - WAYIL
Our journey begins in Dafalen Lagoon, one of Misool's most iconic settings. Towering limestone cliffs surround calm, turquoise waters where hidden passages connect secret lagoons. It’s an idyllic place for kayaking, snorkeling, or simply soaking in the views.
Highlights include:
- Trek to Kolam Hati, the famous heart-shaped lagoon.
- Dive Dafalen Wall, where giant sweetlips thrive alongside colorful macro life.
- Snorkel in the Jellyfish Lake, an enchanting and otherworldly experience.
In the evening, we will enjoy a night dive at Wayil Batan, before anchoring in its sheltered waters.
Day 3: WAYIL - FIABACET
Welcome to the Wayil archipelago, a paradise of sugarloaf karsts, white-sand beaches, and crystalline lagoons framed by lush greenery.
Diving highlights include:
- Neptune Fan Sea Channel, with its dramatic walls of gorgonians.
- Four Kings, a majestic site where four pinnacles rise from the depths, teeming with reef and pelagic fish.
- Other gems such as Barracuda Point, Wedding Cake, and Dunia Kecil each offer unforgettable encounters.
We will also dive in the Fiabacet area, where spectacular ridges and pinnacles offer a diversity of life, both big and small. There, diving highlights include:
- Fiabacet Ridge is home to pelagics, turtles, and manta rays.
- Tank Rock and Nudi Rock are linked by a stunning underwater ridge.
- Whale Rock and Fiabacet Pinnacle, where soft corals flourish alongside rare creatures like pygmy seahorses (Barbiganti and Denise).
We will spend a peaceful night at anchor in Wayil or Yuliet.
Day 4: WARAKARAKET
This day brings us to Misool’s legendary pinnacle dives:
- Magic Mountain, one of the region’s signature sites, is known for manta cleaning stations and an incredible density of life.
- Eagle Nest and Gas Ridge are both vibrant with reef sharks, barracudas, turtles, and schooling fish beneath forests of gorgonians.
We will anchor in Juliet for a tranquil overnight stay.
Day 5: BOO AREA
We will explore Boo’s extraordinary landscapes and dive sites:
- Boo Window, with its iconic swim-throughs carved by the sea.
- Boo West is home to varied underwater topographies, walls, and slopes.
- Puri Pinnacle, where schooling anchovies attract dazzling hunting action.
- Boo East, including Kalig East, and a possible night dive.
When not diving, you may kayak, snorkel, or relax among the pristine lagoons and beaches. On Day 5 evening, we will gather for a convivial BBQ under the stars in the Pulau Juliet area.
Overnight, Jakare will make the short crossing toward Balbulol.
Day 6: BALBULOL
Balbulol offers not just spectacular diving, but also landscapes straight out of a dream—emerald lagoons framed by limestone peaks and secret passages leading to hidden coves.
Diving highlights include:
- No Contest, Baby Rock, and 1 Untuk Semua, each with pinnacles, swim-throughs, overhangs, and sandy plateaus rich with life.
- Colorful reefs of both hard and soft corals thrive in shallow waters.
Between dives, enjoy kayaking, stand-up paddling, or snorkeling in these crystal-clear waters. In the evening, Jakare will set sail for Sorong.
Day 7: SORONG (CHECK-OUT)
We will arrive overnight in Sorong. After breakfast, you will have time to finish packing, exchange photos, and share final moments with fellow travelers and crew. Your Cruise Director will guide you through disembarkation, with transfers arranged to your hotel or the airport by 10 am at the latest.
A final farewell marks the end of this unforgettable journey through the heart of Misool.
Marine Life: At least 75 percent of all coral species can be found in Raja Ampat. Divers can expect a range of topography from soft corals and sea fans to hard corals, seagrass beds, mangroves, shallow reefs, deep drop-offs, caves, black sand, and white sand. Giant manta rays, sea turtles, sharks, cuttlefish, pipefish, various seahorse species, and massive schools of reef fish are the norm, plus the delightful wobbegong sharks and epaulette sharks inhabit these waters too
The last dive will be on the penultimate day of the trip. Divers are recommended to wait for 24 hours before flying after the last dive.
