Sample Itinerary

DAY 1: Sorong to Saonek

Your journey begins in Sorong, where our crew welcomes you aboard La Galigo. After settling into your cabin and a short safety briefing, we set sail towards Saonek.

Our first dive is a relaxed check dive at Saonek, perfect for adjusting your gear and buoyancy. Saonek Jetty follows, where frogfish, cuttlefish, and the rare walking shark give an exciting introduction to Raja Ampat’s diversity.

As evening falls, enjoy dinner and sunset on deck, a gentle start to your adventure and a chance to connect with fellow travellers.

DAY 2: Dampier Strait

We begin at Chicken Reef, buzzing with fusiliers and reef sharks. At Lao Lao, soft corals and sea fans provide a colourful backdrop while turtles drift by.

In the afternoon, Mioskon offers huge schools of glassfish, often disrupted by hunting trevallies. Our final dive, Batu Lima, features bommies rising from sandy bottoms, each teeming with marine life.

Evenings are spent unwinding on deck, swapping stories, or watching the sunset with a drink in hand.

Mayhem, on the other hand, lives up to its name, offering the thrilling spectacle of pelagic predators hunting among swirling schools of baitfish atop a submerged seamount. Both dives offer something unique, from dramatic coral beauty to heart-pumping action, making them highlights of any Raja Ampat itinerary. As we prepare to settle in for the night, take a moment to soak in the breathtaking sunset views over the islands of Waigeo and Gam, painting the horizon in stunning colors. It’s the perfect way to end a fantastic day of diving!

DAY 3: Blue Magic & Cape Kri

Morning dives take us to Blue Magic, known for barracuda, trevallies, and the chance of oceanic mantas. Cape Kri follows, boasting the world record for fish species in a single dive.

After lunch, we head to Sawandarek, where coral gardens, giant clams, and friendly turtles make for a relaxing contrast.

As night falls, those keen for more can join a night dive, when ghost pipefish, lionfish, and squid transform the reef.

DAY 4: Dampier & West Waigeo

We begin at Manta Sandy, where mantas glide gracefully over cleaning stations. Mayhem is next, living up to its name with strong currents and dense schools of fish.
Later, Citrus Ridge provides gentler conditions and a chance to explore colourful coral slopes filled with critters.

Our evening is spent in sheltered Gam Bay, with an optional night dive to spot nudibranchs, squid, and the rare walking shark.

DAY 5: Mutus & Piaynemo

We dive Yefnabi and Yeben reefs, vibrant with sharks, barracuda, and reef fish. Batu Rufus follows, with limestone cliffs above and rich marine life below.

In the afternoon, we hike Piaynemo’s famous viewpoint, rewarded with breathtaking views of turquoise lagoons and scattered limestone islets.

As the sun sets, we dive Galaxy Jetty, alive with critters and unusual nocturnal behaviour.

DAY 6: Piaynemo to Misool Crossing

The day begins at My Reef, a current-swept ridge where fusiliers and trevallies race through the blue. Melissa’s Garden follows, with vast hard coral fields filled with anthias and reef fish.

After lunch, we enjoy one last dive in Piaynemo before beginning our overnight journey south to Misool.

Guests often use this evening to relax on deck, read, or share stories while the boat cruises steadily overnight.

DAY 7: Wayil, Misool

We arrive in Misool and snorkel at Jellyfish Lake, home to thousands of harmless jellyfish. At Anchovies, massive bait balls attract predators like tuna and trevallies.

Later, we dive either Nudi Rock or Tank Rock, both known for dramatic drop-offs and bustling fish life. In the afternoon, Wedding Cake offers tiered coral formations with life at every level.

Optional night diving reveals Misool’s nocturnal creatures, including decorator crabs, cuttlefish, and squid.

DAY 8: Fiabacet Region (Misool)

Kaleidoskop greets us with colourful soft corals and pygmy seahorses. Four Kings follows a set of pinnacles alive with barracuda, sharks, and trevallies.

After lunch, Neptune Sea Fan offers giant sea fans, often hiding pygmy seahorses. A shallower dive at a calm lagoon, such as Tracking Lagoon Love, rounds off the day.

Dinner is enjoyed under the stars in a quiet Misool bay, the perfect close to another vibrant day.

DAY 9: Warakaraket (Misool)

We start at Shadow Reef (Magic Mountain), famous for manta encounters and sharks patrolling its ridge. Eagle Nest follows, often filled with fusiliers and barracuda.

In the afternoon, Boo Windows offers swim-throughs lit by shafts of sunlight and reefs bursting with soft corals.

As sunset arrives, optional night diving takes place at Romeo or Juliet, where nocturnal life brings a new dimension to Misool.

DAY 10: More of Warakaraket

We return to explore more of Misool. Morning dives take us to either Nudi Rock or Tank Rock, packed with action from strong currents and swarming fish.

Boo East brings gentler conditions with coral gardens and sea fans, showing another side of Misool. Later, we may revisit Tank Rock for another thrilling pinnacle dive.

At night, another chance is offered to dive either Romeo or Juliet, a treat for macro lovers.

DAY 11: Wagmab & Return to Sorong

We begin at Warna Berwarna, filled with colourful corals and lively fish schools. At Andiamo, pelagics like trevallies and tuna make a final appearance.

Our last dive is a relaxed one, offering time to savour the underwater beauty before heading back.

In the afternoon, we pack and prepare for a farewell dinner celebration as La Galigo begins the overnight crossing to Sorong.

DAY 12: Disembark in Sorong

After breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye. Transfers are arranged for the airport or local hotels.

Guests leave with photos, stories, and memories of incredible reefs, manta encounters, and limestone landscapes.

For many, it’s not a farewell, but a promise to return to Raja Ampat and La Galigo once again.

Marine Life: At least 75 percent of all coral species can be found in Raja Ampat, divers can expect a range of topography from soft corals and sea fans, to hard corals, seagrass beds, mangroves, shallow reefs, deep drop-offs, caves, black sand, and white sand. Giant manta rays, sea turtles, sharks, cuttlefish, pipefish, various seahorse species, and massive schools of reef fish are the norm, plus the delightful wobbegong sharks and Epaulette sharks inhabit these waters too.

The last dive will be on the penultimate day of the trip. Divers are recommended to wait for 24 hours before flying after the last dive.
