This 15-day Red Sea liveaboard journey combines legendary wrecks, dramatic reefs, and thrilling pelagic encounters. Highlights include the iconic SS Thistlegorm, the wrecks of Abu Nuhas, and the poignant Salem Express, alongside world-class diving at Ras Mohammed, Straits of Tiran, Brother Islands, Daedalus Reef, Rocky Island, Zabargad, Safaga, and Elphinstone Reef. Expect strong currents, pristine coral walls, abundant marine life, and frequent sightings of sharks and large pelagic species on this expedition designed for experienced divers.
Sample Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Hurghada & Embarkation
Arrive in Hurghada and transfer to the liveaboard. After check-in, enjoy a welcome briefing, safety orientation, and equipment setup. Dinner onboard as the vessel prepares to depart overnight.
Day 2: Abu Nuhas Wrecks
Begin diving at Abu Nuhas, famous for its historic wrecks. Explore iconic sites such as the Giannis D and Carnatic, now beautifully encrusted with hard and soft corals. These shallow wrecks provide excellent penetration opportunities and rich marine life.
Day 3: SS Thistlegorm
Dive the legendary SS Thistlegorm, the most famous wreck in the Red Sea. Explore holds filled with World War II artifacts, including tanks, trucks, motorcycles, and ammunition. Additional dives in the area, depending on conditions.
Day 4: Ras Mohammed Marine Park
Dive the spectacular reefs of Ras Mohammed, including Shark Reef and Yolanda Reef. Experience dramatic drop-offs, vibrant coral gardens, and abundant fish life. Early morning dives may offer shark sightings along the reef edges.
Day 5: Straits of Tiran (Jackson & Gordon Reefs)
Explore the northern Straits of Tiran, diving Jackson Reef and Gordon Reef. Enjoy strong currents, excellent visibility, healthy coral growth, and chances to see pelagic species such as barracuda, jacks, and reef sharks.
Day 6: Straits of Tiran (Thomas & Woodhouse Reefs)
Continue diving in the Straits of Tiran with Thomas Reef, known for its colorful soft corals and deep canyon, and Woodhouse Reef, offering long drift dives with dense coral coverage and schooling fish.
Day 7: Red Sea Crossing (Sailing Day)
A full day of open-sea cruising south toward the offshore reefs. Relax onboard, enjoy briefings, photography workshops, or marine life spotting as the vessel crosses into more remote waters.
Day 8: Brother Islands (Little Brother)
Arrive at Little Brother, renowned for steep walls covered in sponges, gorgonians, and soft corals. Expect thrilling dives with frequent encounters of hammerhead, thresher, grey reef, and whitetip sharks. Strong currents make this an advanced diving area.
Day 9: Brother Islands (Big Brother)
Dive Big Brother, home to the historic wrecks Numidia and Aida, now fully colonized by coral growth. Spectacular wall dives combined with wreck exploration and continued shark activity.
Day 10: Daedalus Reef
Arrive at the remote Daedalus Reef, surrounded by sheer walls and deep blue water. Dive along the southern plateau and drift the reef edges, where schools of hammerheads, reef sharks, fusiliers, and carangids are commonly seen.
Day 11: Daedalus Reef
A second full day at Daedalus allows for multiple dives on different sides of the reef. Enjoy strong currents, exceptional visibility, and some of the richest fish biomass in the Red Sea.
Day 12: Rocky Island & Zabargad
Dive the dramatic walls of Rocky Island, known for strong currents and pelagic encounters. Continue to Zabargad Island, offering colorful coral gardens, steep drop-offs, and occasional sightings of large fish and sharks.
Day 13: Elphinstone Reef
Explore the iconic Elphinstone Reef, a long finger-shaped reef with steep walls and plateaus at the north and south. Known for frequent shark sightings, including oceanic whitetips, this is one of the Red Sea’s most exhilarating dive sites.
Day 14: Salem Express & Port Ghalib
Dive the haunting Salem Express, now a protected maritime grave. Dives are conducted respectfully, exploring the exterior of the wreck. In the afternoon, cruise toward Port Ghalib and enjoy a farewell dinner onboard.
Day 15: Disembarkation (Port Ghalib)
After breakfast, disembark at Port Ghalib Marina and transfer to the airport for onward flights, concluding an unforgettable Red Sea expedition.
The last dive will be on the penultimate day of the trip. Divers are recommended to wait for 24 hours before flying after the last dive.
