Ultimate Whale Shark Adventure in the Sea of Cortez
The Ultimate Whale Shark Adventure offers an unparalleled opportunity to swim with whale sharks in a remote and pristine bay within a national park in the Sea of Cortez. This region, particularly Bahia de Los Angeles, hosts up to 220 whale sharks each season, making it one of the most extraordinary locations for encountering these gentle giants. Unlike other destinations, the minimal boat traffic allows the whale sharks to behave in a uniquely friendly and curious manner around humans.
This liveaboard expedition combines some of the best diving in the Sea of Cortez, enhanced by aerial support from a spotter airplane, with the chance to witness the legendary summer gathering of whale sharks. From May to October, between 80 and 220 whale sharks are typically identified in the area. In addition to whale sharks, the region is home to orcas, pilot whales, sperm whales, and finback whales, as well as a desert island with the world’s largest population of blue-footed boobies.
