Summary The southern atolls are the perfect choice for thrill-seeking scuba divers eager for more challenging yet rewarding channel dives. Many dive sites here are often exposed to very strong currents, so the itineraries are recommended for experienced divers holding advanced certifications with at least 100 logged dives. Deep South channels are famous for encounters with hammerheads, bull sharks, silky sharks, large schools of grey reef sharks, and silver tips. A highlight of this trip, available during specific weeks, is Fuvahmulah, known for its unbeatable conditions to encounter tiger sharks, thresher sharks, oceanic mantas, whale sharks, and other pelagic fauna. Day 1 through 7: Average 3 dives a day & 1 or 2 night dives during the course. We recommend that our guests have: ● A minimum of 50 logged dives ● Nitrox certification ● Experience with diving in currents Disclaimer We wish to show you the best diving possible; however, a number of factors determine which route the Cruise Director and Captain will choose and which dive sites we visit. Weather conditions, tides, currents and the number of other dive vessels at a particular site all play a part in where the boat is heading to. While we attempt to ensure the number of dives we have scheduled is fulfilled, bad weather can hinder the yacht’s ability to reach a specific dive site in our scheduled time. The safety of all on board is paramount and we always do our best to offer diving at alternative sites, should we be unable to visit the sites listed below. Day 8 Departure (7:30 am) The last dive will be on the penultimate day of the trip. Divers are recommended to wait for 24 hours before flying after the last dive. Highlights From December to March, you can have the best diving experience in the southern Maldivian atolls, where you can witness thrilling shark action in secluded dive sites between Huvadhu and Addu (Seenu) Atolls. Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city and spend a week exploring Addu, Fuvahmulah and Huvadhu, while keeping an eye out for the impressive inhabitants of the Indian Ocean, such as tiger sharks, spinner sharks, silver tips, grey reef sharks, and whale sharks. Huvadhu boasts one of the deepest lagoons in the Maldives, where the currents and channels are perfect for spotting a diverse range of sharks, including whale sharks, silkies, spinner sharks, grey reef sharks and an occasional hammerhead shark if we are lucky. You will have the opportunity to dive in some of the world's best channels (kandus) here, including Vilingilli, Koodoo, Nilandhoo and Mareehaa. In Fuvahmulah, you can encounter tiger, silky, silver tip and thresher sharks on the south plateaux. Addu Atoll is home to the WWII wreck, HMS British Loyalty, as well as the popular majestic Manta Cleaning station Maa Kandu, and a more relaxing drift dive at Demon corner, which is a great way to start or end your trip.
