Embark on an unforgettable 11-day adventure through the stunning islands of Raja Ampat, Indonesia. This liveaboard experience aboard the Jakaré offers an incredible mix of pristine beaches, vibrant coral reefs, and diverse marine life. Starting in Sorong, the journey includes stops at iconic locations such as Waigeo, Kri Island, and Wayag, providing guests with daily opportunities to snorkel, dive, kayak, and interact with local communities. The itinerary is crafted to showcase Raja Ampat's extraordinary underwater world and breathtaking landscapes, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Itinerary Sample
Day 1:
- Overview:
Arrival early morning in Sorong, on-boarding JAKARE, and departure toward Waigeo. Sailing to Yanbuba village on Pulau Kri, arrival end afternoon / early evening. Anchorage/overnight Yanbuba.
- Activities:
Guests will be picked up at the airport or their hotel in Sorong and then will board Jakare in the Harbour of Sorong. Welcomed drinks and snacks are served while the Cruise Director briefs the guests on the safety, onboard organization, and overall itinerary. Guests are then shown their cabins to settle in, take a shower, and get ready for the start of the Cruise.
Jakaré will sail toward North Raja Pulau Waigeo, approximately 40NM. This sailing time is usually a good time for resting and briefing on the activities including scuba diving (checking the snorkeling and diving equipment and the diving certifications).
Depending on the time of arrival, guests may visit the nice village and/or snorkel at the Jetty in amazing snorkeling spots observing schools of big fishes (snappers, barracudas…) hunting. (Option: If arrival is early enough, check-dive is organized for the divers.)
- Overnight:
Anchorage in the quiet Yanbuba Bay.
Day 2:
- Overview:
Discover the beautiful beach and village, snorkel, and check dive at Yanbuba if not already done. Snorkel and dive nearby Kri Island Cape Kri and then sail to nearby Saunderek (Pulau Mansuar). Snorkel and dive Saunderek Jetty and discover the village/beach. Overnight sail to Pulau Wayag.
- Activities:
Wake up, enjoy breakfast, and prepare for the day while discovering Yanbuba Bay under the morning light.
Snorkeling and diving at Yanbuba Jetty: easy and nice dive/snorkeling site, very rewarding with turtles, schools of barracudas, snappers, trevallies, sharks, and very nice and intact corals (amazing staghorn and cabbage corals).
Kayak, paddle, and relax at the beautiful Sandbank/beach surrounded by turquoise waters opposite Yanbuba Jetty.
Jakare will then move to nearby Cape Kri for a snorkeling/diving session.
Cape Kri: A beautiful snorkeling and diving site. Schools of yellow sweet lips and silver trevallies, Dogtooth tunas, mackerel, and Barracudas can be observed as well as reef sharks. It has been recorded 374 different species in the area which became a world-famous dive site for its huge numbers of diversity. It is a steep slope with a vast garden of colorful hard and soG corals.
After Cape Kri, the Jakare will move to Saunderek where snorkeling, diving, beach & village discovery will be organized
Saunderek Jetty: famous for schools of big fishes and giant clams right at the Jetty, in 5 to 10m of water depth. It is an easy snorkeling and dive site with lots of healthy coral and abundant marine life.
Evening walk on Saunderek beach and village. Meet the locals, play with the children (football…), nice quiet atmosphere at sunset.
- Sailing:
After sunset, Jakare sails toward Pulau Wayag all the way North, full night sailing (approximately 60MN).
Day 3:
- Overview:
Pulau Wayag – the discovery of Wayag's inner lagoon and beaches, snorkeling, diving, kayaking, and paddling. Overnight in Pulau Wayag.
- Activities:
Arrival at dawn at Wayag, amazing light and scenery.
A morning trek on top of Mont Pindito is organized for the guests to discover the breathtaking scenery on Wayag limestones islands.
The day is spent in the discovery of Wayag's inner lagoon and its pristine white-sandy beaches with kayaks, paddles, or speed boats. Wayag Lagoon includes also beautiful snorkeling spots where giant clams and much other coral life can be observed.
Divers will dive at Batu Seven and a secret dive spot in Pulau Wayag – Mantas, giant clamp shells, coral gardens, and so many others.
- Overnight:
Mooring or anchoring at Wayag calm inner lagoon.
Day 4:
- Overview:
Sail to Pulau Kawe, dive, and snorkel Black Rock and Eagle Rok. Then Sail to Aljui bay (P Waigeo). Anchorage overnight.
- Activities:
Sail in the morning to nearby Pulau Kawe (approx. 14 NM), possibly with a stop-over at Wayag Rangers staJon where black Jp sharks can be observed in the shallow beach area. Jakare then leaves Wayag going southward and crossing the equator line before reaching the Kawe’s snorkeling and dive spots.
Both snorkellers and divers will share the same spots: Black Rock and Eagle Rock which are both considered as current snorkeling and diving spots.
Black Rock is well known for its wonderful soG coral gardens, profuse fish life (sharks, Napoleon, and others can be observed), and its fields of ancient black coral bushes.
Eagle Rock where you’re likely to spot mantas using the many cleaning stations or feeding on the surface in the channel between two of the islands. In a labyrinth of gigantic boulders covered with an array of citrus colored soG coral, wobbegong sharks like to hide.
- Sailing:
After the snorkeling and diving, Jakare heads southeast towards Waigeo to reach a one-hour navigation of a quiet mooring in Aljui Bay in front of the Pearl Farm. Night dives can be organized in front of the Farm Jetty.
Day 5:
- Overview:
Sail to Pulau Wofoh. Enjoy beaches, snorkeling, kayaks, and diving, and then sail to Pulau Maniafun, anchored overnight.
- Activities:
A visit to the pearl farm can be organized in the morning.
Jakare then sails to nearby Pulau Wofoh (6 NM), a little paradise with a lot to offer.
From the Jakare anchored close to the island, guests can discover Wofoh's pristine beaches in the south and north parts using kayaks or paddles. The snorkelling is just amazing there with unspoiled hard and soG coral gardens.
Easy diving will be proposed for the divers in the south part of the island, on a beautiful wall and sandy valley surrounded by amazing soG and hard corals. School of trevallies, blue and yellow fusiles, and turtles are usually encountered.
- Sailing:
In the afternoon, Jakare sails southwest to a nearby safe anchorage in Pulau Maniafun (8NM).
Day 6:
- Overview:
Sail in the morning to Pulau Pienemu. Snorkeling and Diving Keruo channel and then diving Melissa Garden. Lagoon discovery and ascension. Sail to Pulau Yangello and overnight there.
- Activities:
Jakare retrieves the anchor early morning while everyone still sleeping. Breakfast is served en route toward Pienemu (17NM) and the south anchorage location is reached just in time for the first-morning snorkeling and diving at Keruo Channel.
Keruo Channel is an easy wall-dripping snorkeling and dive location with wall slopes covered in beautiful and untouched soG and hard corals. There are many different crabs, sea spiders, clams, shrimps, and sea urchins amongst the corals as well as many varieties of reef fish with schools of barracudas, snappers…etc.
After Keruo Chanel, a beach/snorkel and a second dive will be proposed at Melissa Garden.
Melissa Garden is a current dive. Made of fantastic pinnacles covered in soG corals and anemones of all different colors. The pinnacle is home to large schools of fusiliers, jack fish, and balish. Giant trevallies are also spoRed here along with snappers, and rainbow runners. In the shallower parts, there will be larger groups of sweetlips and lionfish, as well as many other reef fish of the area.
For non-Divers, there are nice beaches and very nice snorkeling around the Jakare anchoring area.
After Lunch, Jakare moves north to another anchorage close to the lagoon entrance. A walk on top of one limestone mount is organized for the guests to discover the breathtaking scenery of the Pienemu limestone islands. The ascent is usually followed by a refreshing swimming session in the lagoon.
- Sailing:
Jakare then leaves end afternoon Pienemu to Pulau Yangello (12NM) where a night dive can be organized. The anchorage is located in a beautiful and peaceful mangrove area where undisturbed nature can be observed from the Jakare and using kayaks and paddles.
Day 7 - 8:
- Overview:
Sail to Pulau Arborek, snorkel and dive at the Jetty, and discover the village and the beach. Snorkel and Dive at Manta Sandy then sail to Pulau Friwen, overnight in Pulau Friwen.
- Activities:
Wake up with the sound of the white kakatoes and discover the inner mangrove with the kayaks taking our secret passages at P Yangello. Alternatively and as an option, an early morning dive can be organized.
Breakfast is then served on the way to nearby Pulau Arborek being reached in the morning. Jakare anchors just in the front of the island.
Arborek has a lot to offer and caters to every taste: snorkeling, diving, beach, and village walking.
The Jetty is an easy and beautiful dive site, starting or finishing at the Jetty depending on the current. Giant clams can be found just in front of the Jetty. BeauJful soG and hard coral garden with the school of fusiliers, groupers, and silver trevally encountered even below the Jetty.
After the activities and the visits to the beautiful and dynamic Pulau Arborek village, Jakare sails toward the Manta Sandy (1NM) and stands there for the next dive.
Snorkeling and diving will then be organized at the famous Manta Cleaning station. A good opportunity to watch gracious reef mantas being cleaned in less than 15 meters of water.
- Sailing:
After the activities, Jakare will cruise eastward between the coral reefs toward Pulau Friwen (13NM). During sailing, guests may enjoy the sunset while watching the nearby island from Jakare’s comfortable sundeck and discussing the next day's activities with the Cruise Director.
Jakare anchors in the vicinity of Pulau Friwen for the night.
Day 9:
- Overview:
Sail to Pulau Mioskon for snorkeling, diving, and beach discovery. Dive Blue Magic and then sail back to Pulau Friwen, overnight Friwen.
- Activities:
The activities such as visits to Pulau Mioskon and/or snorkeling and diving activities are carried out using the 2 x dinghies, from the Jakare being anchored close to Pulau Mioskon.
Mioskon Reef is a beautiful snorkeling site and an easy dive site. Schools of Yellow Snapper, Napoleon Wrasse, trevallies, big groupers, and many wobbegong sharks can be found in Mioskon. Pigmy seahorses and different species of nudibranch can be seen as well.
Blue Magic is a non-emergent pinnacle located in the northwest of the Dampier Straight and offer current dives on dynamic reefs facing directly the current. The all food chain is on open display there, from reef fishes feeding on rich waters full of nutrients to big pelagic including sometimes Mantas Rays. Schools of yellow fins barracudas, yellow snappers, and silver trevally are very common as well as dogtooth tunas, giant trevally, and black-tip and white-tip sharks.}
- Sailing:
After the activities, Jakare sails back to Friwen anchorage, located between Friwen and Waigeo. This location gives access to multiple activities, including swimming, amazing beaches, superb snorkeling, and village discovery.
Day 10:
- Overview:
Trek/Paradise bird watch in Friwen. Snorkel and dive at Friwen Wall. Activities and beach/BBQ at Friwen.
- Activities:
Early wake up for the guests willing to get adventurous and search for the Bird of Paradise, one of the rare and famous West Papua endemic species. The trek consists of 30 minutes of river in the local pirogue and 30 minutes of uphill hiking in the tropical forest with a local guide. Bird of Paradise can be observed only at sunrise hence the start from the boat is usually at 5:15 am.
The main breakfast will be taken at the early morning trek.
Activities like snorkeling and diving will then be proposed at Friwen Wall. After this, Guests can rest and enjoy Friwen's amazing beach and beautiful coral reef as they wish, possibly using the kayaks and paddles as they wish. In the end afternoon, the crew prepares the beach BBQ and party.
- Sailing:
The Guests get back to the Jakare in the evening after the beach BBQ/Party.
Day 11:
- Overview:
Sail in the night to Sorong. Leave the boat around midday to the airport (depending on flight time on Day 10, sailing to Sorong may be done on Day 9 afternoon).
- Activities:
The last day will be dedicated to traveling back to Sorong and getting ready for the end of the cruise. Filling the diving log books, stamping the log book by the Diving Instructor/dive master, and exchanging addresses and photos from the wonderful time spent together. A small ceremony will be organized on board the Jakare before leaving the boat to the airport or hotel.

The last dive will be on the penultimate day of the trip. Divers are recommended to wait for 24 hours before flying after the last dive.
