The Sorong to Ambon cruise is special because it takes in two magnificent regions in one cruise. Beginning in Sorong we head first to the south and central sections of Raja Ampat, diving arguably one of the best dive locations worldwide, South Raja Ampat. The Banda Islands will offer the opportunity for some pelagic action, hopefully, hammerheads too.
This cruise will take in the Southern and Central sections of Raja Ampat plus the Banda Islands.
Once onboard there will be a safety briefing, crew introduction, complete and check dive paperwork, cabin allocation, and boat orientation. The first dive is a check dive.
Highlights may include but are not limited to the following:
Raja Ampat Southern Section - dives including:
- Daram Area: Andiamo, Candy Store, Wet Dream, and Two Tree
- Wayilbatan Area: Wedding Cake, Barracuda, Dunia Kecil, and Four Kings
- Fiabacet Area: Boo Windows, Tank Rock, Nudi Rock, Shadow Reef, and Whale Rock
- Pele Area: Pele Playground, Netted Corner, Kaleidoscope and Tobblerone
Raja Ampat Central Section - dives including:
- Gam: Mayhem, Dalam, and Citrus Ridge
- Penemu: Barracuda Point, My Reef, Melisa's Garden, and Galaxy
- Airborek: Airborek Jetty, Manta Sandy, and Lolasi
- Cape Kri Area: Cape Kri, Chicken Reef, Sardine Reef, Blue Magic, Mioskon, and Mike's Point
Banda Islands:
- Banda Islands: Pohon Miring, Batu Kapal, Batu Kapal Pinnacle, Banda Neira Jetty and Lava Flow
- Banda Land Visits: On this cruise, we visit Banda Neira to see the nutmeg plantation, historic forts, and the small Maritime Museum. A half a day excursion
On the last diving day, 2 dives are available in the morning whilst observing the rule of no diving within 24 hours of reaching altitude. We return to port at approximately 1 pm and moor here overnight. Evening-time pack up diving equipment and settle any outstanding bills ready to depart for the airport or hotel the following morning.

This itinerary is not for beginners and most dives will involve going to depth and currents can be strong. Emperor recommends that you have 50 logged dives to join this trip. We require that you are Advanced Open Water or equivalent. If you are Open Water or equivalent you will be required to take part in the Advanced Open Water course on board. All diving is made from zodiacs to give precise entry and exit points.
The last dive will be on the penultimate day of the trip. Divers are recommended to wait for 24 hours before flying after the last dive.
